VLE (Moodle / Blackboard)
What it really means
The Virtual Learning Environment — the website where each module posts slides, readings, announcements and submission links. Common systems are Moodle, Blackboard and Canvas. Check it daily.
Context, tips & common mistakes
The VLE — Moodle, Blackboard or Canvas, depending on the university — is the operational heart of your course: slides, lecture recordings, reading lists, announcements, and above all assignment submission. Check it (or its notifications) daily; 'I didn't see the announcement' has never once succeeded as an excuse.
Submission mechanics deserve paranoia. Upload well before the deadline, because the system slows under everyone-submitting-at-23:58 load; verify you submitted the right file (the wrong-draft upload is a classic tragedy); and screenshot the submission receipt every single time. If something technical genuinely breaks near a deadline, email the module convenor immediately with timestamped evidence — reported at 23:55 it is a defensible incident, reported next morning it is just lateness.
