What it really means
Talking about the weather is Britain's favourite safe conversation starter — with neighbours, colleagues, shop staff, anyone. "Lovely day, isn't it?" doesn't really ask for information; it's an invitation to friendly chat. The expected reply is to agree and add a small comment, not to give a forecast.
Chinese explanation
聊天气是英国人最爱的安全开场白——邻居、同事、店员，对谁都行。"Lovely day, isn't it?"（天气真好，是吧？）并不是真的在询问信息，而是友好交谈的邀请。合适的回应是附和并补一句小评论，而不是播报天气预报。
