What it really means
On buses and trains it's polite to offer your seat to elderly people, pregnant women, disabled passengers, or anyone who clearly needs it more. Priority seats are marked for this. A simple "Would you like to sit down?" works. Be a little careful — some people may not want to be treated as old, so offer lightly and don't insist.
Chinese explanation
在公交和火车上，把座位让给老人、孕妇、残障乘客或明显更需要的人是礼貌的做法，车上设有"priority seats"（优先座位）。说一句"Would you like to sit down?"就行。注意分寸——有些人不愿被当成老人，所以轻轻一句就好，别坚持。
