Night Tube

Neutral Neutral

What it really means

Some London Underground lines run all night on Fridays and Saturdays. On other nights the Tube closes around midnight to half past midnight, so plan how to get home.

Chinese explanation
伦敦部分地铁线路在周五、周六通宵运营。其他日子地铁约在午夜到凌晨0:30收班,晚归要提前想好怎么回家。

Context, tips & common mistakes

The Night Tube runs through Friday and Saturday nights on several London Underground lines — normal off-peak fares, normal contactless tapping, no premium — plus London Overground night services on some routes. It transforms weekend logistics: the desperate 23:45 sprint for the last train stops mattering on covered lines. Check which lines run it (a minority, though the busiest ones) and note that on the other five nights the Tube still closes, with night buses taking over.

Stations are staffed through the night, and the service is well used rather than deserted — sensible late-night awareness applies as anywhere. Outside London, night rail is rare: last trains from city centres can be surprisingly early (and earlier on Sundays), so anywhere beyond the night network still means planning around the last departure or budgeting for a taxi. The pre-midnight 'last train check' remains a core British nightlife skill.
