What it really means

Means "see you soon" — usually within hours, not days. "In a bit" alone also works as a goodbye. "See you later" may be said even when no later meeting is planned.

Chinese explanation
意思是"一会儿见"——通常指几小时内,不是几天后。单说 in a bit 也可作告别语。注意 see you later 有时只是客套的再见,并不是真约了稍后见面。
